How to get to KOTTAYAM

From Kochi International Airport (the old name of Kochi is Cochin)

Cochin International Airport (COK) is situated at Nedumbassery, about 90 km from Kottayam. Transportation for delegates to the conference venue will be provided from Cochin International Airport by the conference committee. There will be two or three conference bus services on Feb. 8, 2007 from the airport to Kottayam and the timing will be informed to the participants by e-mail just a week before the conference. However, we will arrange transportation for those who arrive before or after Feb.8 on request. Therefore all the participants are requested to inform their exact itinerary (this must include the Aircraft number, time of arrival etc), well in advance. On the other hand if there is any confusions arises at the last moment (due to communication gap etc), the participants may avail their own transportation from the airport. Pre-paid taxis are available at the airport. This counter is just near the exit. The approximate charge is US$ 35. The hotel addresses are given in the website.
One or two of our conference volunteers will be standing near the exit of the airport holding cards “photoradchem2007”. If you have any difficulty in the airport, please contact the convener by phone (please keep all the contact phone numbers with you from our website). There are many phone booths near the exit of the arrival terminal and you can use these phones after paying a nominal amount.

From Kottayam Railway Station

Kottayam Railway Station is just 1 km from the town centre. Our volunteers will be there in the Railway station, near the exit. There is only one exit and you may see a hall just after the narrow exit. The service of the volunteers will be available only on Feb.8 (from early morning to around 17.00 hrs). We may also extend help if you arrive late night or so. However, you have inform the convener well in advance.
Please note you get auto rickshaws and taxis near the exit. Please use this facility to reach your hotel/centre if you don’t find our people in the railway station. Please also note that our university is about 13 km away from Kottayam and hence don’t attempt to come to the university, if you have any confusion with your accommodation. Instead, you may directly come to Hotel Windsor castle (in case of any confusion).

From Kottayam Bus Station

There are three bus stations: the central KSRTC station that operates mostly long-distance services, Town bus stand and Nagambadam bus stand (both are private bus stands). If you are in any of these bus stands, please show the address of your stay to any auto/taxi drivers, they will take you there.

Local transport: For local transport there are tourist taxis, auto rickshaws and buses. The cheapest and easiest way for local travel is auto rickshaws.
